Tim Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner who played on two national championship football teams in college and was recently elected to the College Football Hall of Fame, will be the keynote speaker at RESTORED: The Redeemed Men’s Event, the inaugural conference held by Columbus-based The Redeemed, a supportive community for men facing major life challenges and celebrating their victory over them.

Restored: The Redeemed Men's Event

The event is scheduled for Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the Bibb Mill Event Center in Columbus. It will begin with a VIP reception at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening for general admission guests at 7:30 and the program commencing at 8.

“We consider ourselves tremendously fortunate to have attracted a speaker of Tim Tebow’s stature despite being a relatively young organization,” said Paul Amos, founder of The Redeemed. “He’s someone who’s instantly recognizable to men all over the country, and he’s got a message that’s upbeat and full of hope. Not only will he energize and inspire men who are facing significant life struggles, we hope his presence will raise our visibility so that men throughout our region and the United States can see everything The Redeemed has to offer them.”

Tim Tebow's Journey in Football

Born in the Philippines as the son of American missionaries, Tebow had a decorated career as a quarterback at the University of Florida from 2006 to 2009, winning two Southeastern Conference titles, two consensus national championships, and, in 2007, the Heisman Trophy.

Taken in the first round (25th overall) by the Denver Broncos in the 2010 NFL Draft, he played for five different teams before retiring in 2021, and can currently be seen on ESPN’s SEC Network as a co-host of the traveling college football program SEC Nation.

Earlier this year he was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame, into which he will be formally inducted this December.

Tim Tebow Gives Back

Ever since his time as a star quarterback for the Florida Gators, Tebow has been outspoken about his Christian faith, speaking before audiences organized by groups such as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and ministering in a wide range of venues including churches, schools, and prisons.

The Tim Tebow Foundation, which he launched in 2010, supports numerous causes with a special emphasis on children, including a collaboration with the Christian nonprofit organization CURE International that built a 30-bed children’s hospital specializing in orthopedic surgery in Davao City, Philippines.

“Though his athletic career has been phenomenally successful by just about any standard, Tim Tebow has still had to deal with his share of setbacks, disappointments, and struggles, and that’s something that will resonate with many of the men in our audience,” said Amos. “But through it all, he’s been able to rely on his deep faith and relationship with God to find the strength to persevere. That’s exactly what our mission is at The Redeemed—to help men at crisis points in their lives to realize they’re not alone, Christ has a purpose and a message of hope for them, and we’re dedicated to helping them discover it.”

The Redeemed Men's Ministry

The Redeemed was launched in April 2020 as a resource for men of all races and backgrounds who are dealing with significant struggles ranging from work and marriage conflicts to severe depression and addiction issues. Recognizing that even men who supposedly “have it all” can face such problems, and that societal expectations for men to be strong and unemotional often discourage them from discussing their struggles even with close friends, The Redeemed provides a supportive, nonjudgmental space for men to open up about their fears and failings and find strength and reassurance in one another.

Beginning as a monthly series of video presentations featuring Amos in conversation with ministers and church leaders from across the region, The Redeemed has since expanded to include a weekly podcast, “The Redeemed Man,” and small group sessions, some online and others conducted in person in Columbus.

The organization’s website, TheRedeemed.com, also offers blog posts, discussion questions, and other resources designed to help men process their feelings and find a greater sense of direction and purpose.
