About

Dom Fusco experienced his first spiritual transformation when he was baptized at age 23. His second came a few years later, when a cardiac arrest caused him to collapse during a run, leaving him “flatline dead” for two and a half minutes. Surviving that moment made him realize that God wasn’t finished with him yet. This week Dom talks with Nate Dewberry about those two turning points and how they now shape his work as a content creator and fitness coach – helping people build both physical wellness and spiritual strength.

Discussion
  1. Did Dom’s description of his adolescent years – “I knew who Jesus was…but I wasn’t a follower” – resonate with you at all? What do you think stood between you and a deeper relationship with God at the time? How did you overcome that barrier? Or are you still working to overcome it? Luke 9:23

  2. Did you have an “escape” from the challenges and hardships you experienced as a young man – sports, hobbies, substances, or something else? What were you trying to get away from? At any point, did those escapes ever pull you away from your true purpose in life? Jeremiah 2:13
  3. Dom says his near-death experience on a Texas running track changed his perspective. It showed him that he’d been living with “one foot in and one foot out” – following Christ yet still chasing worldly goals. Have you ever lived like that? Are you currently chasing worldly goals? What are they and how are they distracting you from spiritual growth and development? James 1:8
  4. We all have a purpose in life, real or perceived. Do you feel like your purpose comes from your identity in Christ and drives all that you do? Or are you still seeking purpose in other sources, like a job or hobby? Ephesians 2:10

  5. What’s the longest you’ve ever been single? Was it just a matter of circumstance, or were you deliberately de-prioritizing dating to focus on other things? How do you think that period of singlehood shaped you? Proverbs 3:5–6

  6. Do you have “a time, a place, and a plan” for prayer and/or B ible study, as Dom advises? If not, brainstorm some ideas now. How can you be more committed to making communication with God a daily practice? Mark 1:35

  7. Discuss what Dom had to say about his continuing struggles with pride, even now that he’s devoted his life more fully to Christ. What would you say is your biggest distraction in terms of social status – social media hits, having a big circle of friends, being more prominently known and admired in the community? How might these pursuits be taking away opportunities to glorify God? What are some more productive, less self-centered habits you could be channeling that energy into instead? James 4:6–8
