About

Evan Lanier never imagined his career would revolve around a camera – let alone take him to dozens of countries by the time he turned 40. As a filmmaker, videographer, and co-founder of 5nine Creative, he’s spent years capturing powerful stories of people living out and strengthening their faith in the midst of hardship and tragedy. In this week’s episode, Evan joins Redeemed founder Paul Amos to share some of those stories, along with the life-changing lessons he and his family have learned along the way.

Discussion
  1. Is your current career something you aspired to when you were young? If not, talk about the path that brought you to this point. When did you realize you had a talent, interest, or calling that you could build a life around? Can you identify ways in which God had a hand in leading you to your career?

  2. Have you ever traveled abroad? If so, what was your most memorable destination or experience? In what ways has that shaped you or influenced your perspective over time

  3. Have you ever visited another country or met a person from another culture that changed the way you thought about that place? Galatians 3:28

  4. Did Evan’s stories about people expressing their faith in places like Uganda, the West Bank, and Pakistan — often in extremely challenging circumstances — change the way you view your own life, especially in the smaller things you tend to feel dissatisfied with? James1:2-4

  5. Evan references several trips he’s taken where the people had far less material wealth than we do in the United States, but seemed happier. Can you recall a time in your life when you were getting by on less, but were happy? Perhaps even happier than you are now? Matthew 6:19-21

  6. Has the comfort and security you’ve gained over the years made it harder to stay fully devoted to God? If so, what steps could you take to strengthen that connection again? Matthew 6:24
