About
When people find out that Cade Thompson signed a Nashville record contract at the age of just 18, they sometimes assume he’s led a charmed life. But as many blessings as Cade has received over the course of his still-young music career, there have been setbacks and frustrations too. Fortunately, through prayer and the guidance of caring mentors, he’s been able to learn valuable lessons from those challenges about faith, love, and staying grounded. Cade shares some of those lessons with Nate Dewberry in this week’s episode, along with reflections on his upbringing in South Dakota, the inspiration behind a couple of his biggest hits, and what green room snacks he’s powerless to resist.

Discussion
3:44—Whether it was your “day job” or something you were doing on the side, have you ever had a moment in your career when you felt like God had placed you there on purpose? Or when your job felt less like an obligation and more like a gift or a blessing? Colossians 3:17
5:24—Where would you say you “put your hope” right now in your life? Do you put it in your career or financial status, as Cade describes? Or do you put it in the Lord, knowing he’ll sustain you even when other parts of your life might fall short? 1 Timothy 6:17
10:00—When you think about the mentors who truly made a profound, lasting difference in your life versus those whose influence was more fleeting or superficial, what were the common threads running through those meaningful mentors? What kind of time did you spend with them and what sorts of things did you do together? 1 Corinthians 11:1
10:35—Are there any younger or less experienced men in your life right now to whom you could be that kind of mentor? What are some things you could do together with them that would transcend the “just meeting for coffee”-type relationships that Cade mentioned earlier? 1 Thessalonians 5:11
12:29—If you’re married, do you see your spouse as a “teammate”? What parts of your life do they make easier through their presence and participation? Ecclesiastes 4:12
22:48—How do you think God views you and your life differently from the way you view yourself? Is he more forgiving of your faults and failures? Do you think he has higher hopes for you than you often have for yourself? 1 Samuel 16:7
