We understand that summer can be a busy time for families, but it’s also a time to create special memories and spend quality time together. At The Redeemed, we believe in the importance of family and community, and we’ve put together this resource to help you make the most of your summer.

Whether you’re looking for outdoor activities, family-friendly events, or ways to give back to your community, we’ve got you covered. Our list includes activities that cater to all ages and interests, so there’s something for everyone.

We hope that these ideas will inspire you to spend more time with your family this summer and create meaningful memories that will last a lifetime. So, get ready to have some fun, make new friends, and strengthen your family bond through these summer activities!

Activities For Your Family This Summer

  • Develop a family mission and values statement.
    1.  What makes our family unique?

    2. What is our family’s most important priority – rallying cry – right now?

      a. To do that we will: 
      b. We will also have to stay on top of our regular responsibilities.

    3. How will we use these answers and keep them alive?

  • Game Night:
    •  Let everyone pull out their favorite game and then spend time as a family playing.

  • Family Walk/Hike
  • Tech Free Time: 
    • Set aside time to turn off all devices and media.

  • Go explore something together in your city!
  • Find a way to serve in your community together:
    • Consider serving at a food kitchen or a ministry of your local church.

  • Take family photos:
    • Not your professional photos but photos where everyone gets involved in the creativity and poses.

  • Set aside time for a once-a-week family dinner — make it a focus!
  • Date night with your spouse
    • Demonstrate to your kids the priority of your marriage by planning a date night with your spouse and explaining to the kids the importance of prioritizing your marriage.

  • Teach your kids life skills 
    • Car maintenance, laundry, cleaning, changing air filters in your home, mowing the lawn, washing the car, etc.

  • Family gratitude board:
    • Create a space where kids record what they are thankful for at least once weekly through the summer.

  • Read through a book of the Bible together. 
  • Create a family memory book at the end of the summer with your kids.

  • Take a day off and surprise your kids with a fun day together as a family.
  • Cook together.
    • Teach the kids a recipe and let them pick out something to learn to make.

  • Watch an old movie or TV show together. 
    • For example, I Love Lucy is a great show!

  • Meal Questions. 
    • Before the kids sit down at the table to eat, put a note card under their plate with three questions (you pick the questions) and at the end of the meal have them pull the note card out and discuss. 

As summer approaches, we encourage you to use this list of family activities as a starting point to create special moments with your loved ones. Whether it’s a picnic in the park, a family game night, or volunteering in your community, these activities will help you build stronger relationships and create lasting memories.

We believe that intentional family time is essential for healthy family dynamics and overall wellbeing, and we want to hear how you used these activities or about something you did during the summer to intentionally develop your family.
