Amid the frenzy of family, food, and football, it’s easy to get caught up in the holiday hype of Thanksgiving. But don’t forget the spirit of the day – giving thanks for all the blessings in our lives.

The Bible is full of verses about gratitude and Psalms of thanksgiving. It is our hope that you use these verses as inspiration to cultivate a heart of gratitude this Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Scriptures

Consider sharing a few of these scriptures about thanksgiving at your holiday gathering to encourage your family and friends to be thankful for the many blessings from God.

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
    Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
  • Colossians 2:6-7
     So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
  • Isaiah 12:4-5
    Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
        make known among the nations what he has done,
        and proclaim that his name is exalted.
    Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things;
        let this be known to all the world.
  • Hebrews 12:28

    Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.

  • Psalm 95:1-5

    Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
        let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
     Let us come before him with thanksgiving
        and extol him with music and song.

     For the Lord is the great God,
        the great King above all gods.
     In his hand are the depths of the earth,
        and the mountain peaks belong to him.
     The sea is his, for he made it,
        and his hands formed the dry land.

  • Philippians 4:6-7

    Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  • Ephesians 5:18-20
    Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Psalm 107:1

    Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
        his love endures forever.

  • Colossians 3:15-16
    Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
  • 1 Corinthians 1:4
     I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.
  • 1 Timothy 4:4-5

    For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

  • Jonah 2:9
    But I, with shouts of grateful praise,
        will sacrifice to you.
    What I have vowed I will make good.
        I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’

  • Psalm 28:7

    The Lord is my strength and my shield;
        my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
    My heart leaps for joy,
        and with my song I praise him.

  • Psalm 69:30

    I will praise God’s name in song
        and glorify him with thanksgiving.

  • Psalm 9:1
    I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
        I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

  • Psalm 136: 1-3

    Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
    His love endures forever.
    Give thanks to the God of gods.

    Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
    His love endures forever.

        and his courts with praise;
        give thanks to him and praise his name.

  • 1 Timothy 2:1
    I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people.

The goal of The Redeemed is to provide men a supportive, communal environment where they can discuss their problems, worries, and feelings of “brokenness” without fear of being judged or censored. Please consider joining us for one of our online small groups.

In these challenging, uncertain times, many men feel broken and alone. The Redeemed aims to show them they’re not alone in their brokenness, and that God’s love and strength are available to them too—not in spite of their human failings, but because.

If you would like to tell your story, talk, have someone listen, or surround yourself with those who have experienced brokenness and restoration, please contact The Redeemed.
